Lenovo S10 Battery Maintenance Tips You’d Better Know

The 3-cell Lenovo S10 battery is a high-capacity Li-Ion battery (part no. 57Y6442) and delivers up to 4 hours of system run-time. It has a capacity of 2200/2600mAh, battery voltage of 10.8/11.1V and is black in colour. The battery has one of the longest laptop battery lives and has no memory effect. The battery features an over-discharge protection and offers proven battery technology that is beyond RD with a balanced performance, longevity and capacity. The battery is further backed by a 1 year warranty on all manufacture defects with renowned Service and Support from Lenovo.

Lenovo S10 battery maintenance tips

1. Charge fully

When you buy a new battery for Lenovo S10, do not forget to charge it fully prior to using it. This first charge activates the battery cells chemicals inside it hence assuring you of a deep cycle charge. This does not mean that you can only charge it a little bit and then leaving it thinking the battery is good enough for use. Instead, leave the battery on the charger until the LCD indicator light on the side next to the adapter cable port is observed stating the battery is ready for use. Ths will give your battery an extended life cycle that’s not common with so many laptop batteries.

2. Avoid extreme temperatures

Excessive heat is an enemy of the all the Lenovo S10 batteries. During summertime, remember not to leave your battery in a car with rolled up windows. His is because temperatures inside the car can sometimes rise by 50F within a single hour. In winter, do not leave your battery in a cold car. Extreme temperatures do degrade the chemical composition within the battery thereby reducing its life span considerably.

3. No moisture

Both the Lenovo adapter for S10 and the Li-ion battery packs are not water-tightly sealed. This implies that they ought not to be used in high moisture surroundings, like on a boat. If you use the battery in a salty water environment, for example, the salts contained in the surrounding environment will corrode out the battery. If it’s very necessary that you have to use your battery in such locations, then do so but remove it to dry completely as soon as you are done; otherwise expect serious consequences that may force you to dig into your pocket for a replacement pack.

4. Avoid deep battery discharge

Unlike the Nickel-metal-hydride laptop batteries which require deep discharge before being used, the Lithium ion Lenovo battery will be completely destroyed if you try to do this to it. Never ever deeply discharge a Li-ion battery, not just the Lenovo S10 only. Instead, plug the battery into the charger even when not in use to keep it fully charged.
